1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website or use an App. Cookies are widely used by online service providers in order to (for example) make services work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.

Cookies set by the Data Controller are called “first party cookies”. Cookies set by parties other than the Data Controller are called “third party cookies”. Third party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be provided on through the web you are browsing (such as advertising, interactive content and analytics). The third parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website or service in question and also when it visits certain other websites or services.

2. Why do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?

We use first and third party cookies for several reasons. These cookies enable us and the third parties we work with to track and target the activity of our users. For example, we use cookies for analytics, configuration, marketing and other purposes. Every cookie we use is described in more detail below.

3. Which cookies do we use?

Google Analytics: We use the “Google Analytics” analysis service from Google Inc. (Google). Google Analytics is designed to record how users interact with a website. Events are recorded such as the initial, or frequent visits of the website. The events can be used to record other user interests as well, for example, for certain sections of the website or certain topic areas. Google is certified under the Privacy Shield agreement and offers a guarantee to comply with the European data protection regulations.

You can view the privacy policy from Google here: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy

Koa's Facebook Pixel: Our website uses Facebook Pixel provided by Facebook Inc. (“Facebook”). We use the Facebook Pixel to track user behavior, which enables us to send you relevant, targeted advertising on Facebook. It’s a tracking pixel that collects information about you, which is used to build and optimize target audiences for Facebook ads. For example, it collects and sends data, which is connected to an identifier such as your name or IP-address, to Facebook regarding that you have visited our site and what you clicked on.The pixel sends this data to Facebook where it’s matched with your user profile if you have one. So, when we create an ad on Facebook, we can ask Facebook to target the ad to people having visited our site and then it might pop up in your feed. We do not collect or store any personal data about you through the Pixel, but Facebook does. If you would like to opt out of this data processing, you can use the settings and opt out options provided by Facebook under https://www.facebook.com/privacy/center/?entry_point=facebook_bookmarks/

LinkedIn Insight Tag: The LinkedIn Insight Tag is a piece of lightweight JavaScript code that we have added to our websites to enable in-depth campaign reporting and to help us unlock valuable insights about our website visitors. We use the LinkedIn Insight Tag to track conversions, retarget website visitors, and unlock additional insights about members interacting with our LinkedIn adverts. The LinkedIn Insight Tag enables the collection of metadata such as IP address information, timestamp, and events such as page views. All data is encrypted. The LinkedIn browser cookie is stored in a visitor's browser until they delete the cookie or the cookie expires (there’s a rolling six month expiration from the last time the visitor’s browser loaded the Insight Tag).

You can opt out of cookies from LinkedIn on https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls/retargeting-opt-out?trk and

4. How can I deactivate cookies?

In addition to the mechanisms provided above, you can disable cookies through the Cookie Preferences Panel of the Website. You can access to this section in the cookies banner that will appear at the bottom of the website once you access to it for the first time. The cookies preferences will be divided in the following sections:

  • Essential cookies: These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They’re usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms.
  • Analytics cookies: we use Google Analytics cookies to collect information about how visitors use our website
  • Tracking cookies: we use Linkedin Pixel, Facebook Pixel, Google Tags and Hubspot Pixel.

You will be able to disable the last two sections (Analytics and Tracking cookies). To know more about them you should click the drop down next to each title, and it will provide you the full explanation of what they do. To disable them you should move the slider from on to off, this way we will not activate any pixel related to these specific cookies.
